Our Heroes Project
hero: (n) one who has created positive change in history by improving the lives of others.
Unsung heroes are role models whose remarkable acts of courage, compassion, selflessness, perseverance and, quite possibly, sacrifice make a profound and positive difference on the course of history. They change our world for the better, but most of us have never heard of them. Now you can be a part of bringing these extraordinary stories to light in order to inspire people to take actions that improve the lives of others. Unsung Heroes teach the power one has to make a difference—and you have that power to make a difference, too.
Day 6 -- December 1, 2015: Research & Paraphrasing
Finishing up research and continuing to paraphrase on your notecards. Your homework is about transitions, and will help you bring all of your research together into an essay that effectively connects ideas.
Day 5 -- November 30, 2015: Research & Paraphrasing
Today we will be creating Imagine Easy Scholar accounts and beginning research. By the end of the period you are to have at least three "notecards" created in the class assignment in Imagine Easy Scholar. Also, your homework will help you go back to those notecards and begin the process of putting your research into your own words, and avoiding plagiarism.
Day 4 -- November 24, 2015: Website Layout & Design
Each group member will make their own Weebly.com website and experiment with different layout and design options. Be sure to look at the Lowell Milken Center website for ideas about design for a broad audience.
Day 3 -- November 23, 2015: Summarizing Activity (in preparation for research).
We will be circling key terms on a short article, and then viewing a video that explains how to use key terms to begin summarizing your research.
Day 2 -- November 20, 2015: Group Contract
With your group complete the Our Heroes Group Contract. This contract will be used throughout the project to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate and create an awesome project! Be sure to refer to the project description document we shared with you, so you know what all is required for this project.
Day 1 -- November 16, 2015: Entry Event
Read letter from VP Biden and generate a list of need to knows with your table groups.
